statement of faith
1. That there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Matt 3:16,17; 1 Pet 1:1,2; Isa 48:16
2. The Bible is the inspired, inerrant, infallible, authoritative word of God.
2 Tim 3:16,17
3. Man is, by nature, a sinner from birth.
Ps 51:5; Rom 3:23; Rom 5:12,13
4. Jesus Christ was virgin born, sinless, died on the cross for the sins of the world, was buried raised from the dead on the third day and is coming again.
Matt 1:18-21; Heb 4:15; 1 Cor 15:1-4; John 14:3,4
5. Salvation is a free gift, bestowed by God's grace and received by faith.
Eph 2:8,9
6. A believer's salvation is secured by Christ alone.
John 10:27,28; Acts 4:12
7. Immersion in water of a professed believer is the Biblical baptism and such baptism is symbolic of Christ's death, burial, and resurrection.
Rom 6:1-4; Acts 8:36-39
8. The church is the bride of Christ and the body of Christ.
1 Cor 12; Eph 5:25-33; Col 1:18
9. The local church is governed by Godly men known as elders or bishops.
Titus 1:5-9; 1 Tim 3:1; 1 Tim 5:17; Acts 20:28
10. The purpose of the church on earth is to fulfill the last command of Jesus.
Matt 28:18-20
11. Christians are endowed with spiritual gifts which enable them to minister in the church.
Eph 4:11
12. The Holy Spirit, whom every believer receives at conversion, leads and guides us.
Eph 1:13, 14; Rom 8:14
13. In the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, the Christian is enabled to live a Godly life and in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus.
Gal 5:22-25; 1 Cor 6:19; Rom 15:5; Eph 4:3
14. We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image. Human life is of inestimable worth in all its dimensions, including pre-born babies, the aged, the physically or mentally challenged, and every other stage or condition from conception through natural death. We are therefore called to defend, protect, and value all human life.
Ps 139
15. We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God. Rejection of one’s biological sex is a rejection of the image of God within that person.
Gen 1:26,27
16. We believe that the term marriage has only one meaning: the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture and solemnized by an authority recognized by the state with a duly executable marriage license. We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other. We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman.
Gen 2:22-24; Eph 5:31; Lev 18:22; Lev 20:13; 1 Cor 6:18; 7:2-5; Heb 13:4
17. We believe that any form of sexual immorality including but not limited to adultery, fornication, homosexual, bisexual, transgendered behaviors, bestiality, incest, polygamy and the use of pornography is sinful and offensive to God.
Matt 15:18-20; 1 Cor 6: 9,10
18. We believe that in order to preserve the function and integrity of PFC as the local Body of Christ, and to provide a Biblical role model to the members, staff or volunteers and the community, it is imperative that all persons employed by PFC in any capacity, or who serve as volunteers, agree to abide by this Statement of Faith.
Matt 5:16; Phil 2:14-16; 1 Thes 5:22
19. We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sins, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ.
Acts 3:19-21; Rom 10:9,10; 1 Cor 6:9-11
20. We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect and dignity. Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes directed toward any individual or group are to be repudiated and are not in accord with Scripture nor the doctrines of PFC.
Mark 12:28-31; Luke 6:31
21. This Statement of Faith does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs. The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source of all that we believe. For purposes of Prisoners For Christ faith, doctrine, practice, policy and discipline, our Board of Directors is PFC’s final interpretive authority on the Bible’s meaning and application.
